The Sovetskaya was the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. I had to move
rooms four times in six days. The room was about six feet by nine
feet. The bathroom rarely had hot water. I had no water two days. No
electricity for one day. No hot water for two days. Bugs in my bed for
one day. Each time I was forced to change rooms. I hated my stay
there. You are right the lobby is only good part of the hotel. Service
is horrible and they nickel and dime you to death. See attached
pictures.
This was an unsolicited review from one of the Sovetskaya's guests. I checked out the photos that were sent to us. It didn't seem that bad. The wall paper was old. The phone was an old soviet-built phone. The room had a fairly new tv. It was a basic room. A lot of Russian travelers probably would have thought the room was fine. I have seen much worse.
I believe what this guest wrote, although the bug comment is a surprise. Bottom line: it's not a quality organization or a quality hotel.
